Corgi Jubilee!

I'm a bit obsessed.

 Our darling Lizzie celebrated her Diamond Jubilee this week. 60 years in the biz, that's a decent innings. You've got to have some tricks up your well-pressed sleeve to make it this long! The Queen's longevity could, perhaps, be attributed three main things:


1. Prince Philip
This dude is seriously creepy, and awkward, and awesome all at the same time. But he's stuck by the Queen in thick and thin, and a fair share of politically incorrect gaffes...

2. Hot Ginge
When I was in school, Prince William was all the rage with the girls. But now that he's married to the seriously sassy Kate, he's off the market AND balding.
In steps Prince Hot Ginge. I mean seriously, Harry is good looking enough to keep anyone young.

3. Corgis
It's oft been joked that the Queen loves her corgis more than the realm, and who can blame her? These dudes are so cute, albeit a bit dumb.

Babushka Barmy

Does your grandmother look like this?

No? Either does mine.

This grandmother (called a Matryoshka in Russia) is wearing a Babuska scarf on her head. The dolls which we commonly refer to as Babushka are acually Matroyshka - named for the generations of women in a single family; all of whom apparently wore Babuska scarves on their heads at one time or another. Hence, the famous dolls:

"Babushka" dolls are everywhere now, and they're a trend that's not in danger of going anywhere (much like some of those beloved Matryoshkas tehmselves). But they're super cute and just a bit kitschy - who can resist?

If in doubt, put a doll on it!

We're a messy bunch here in the buying office. Between Dad's weekly dim sim runs, Shoshana swatching everything in sight and Princess KimmyK littering the space with feather samples, it's tough to keep clean!

The sun is streaming in through our office windows this morning, and Dad is looking tanned as ever - at least that's what he tells us it's from.

Our Forest Friends

We've been so busy lately that we've been neglecting our blog. The office is finalising next Winters fabric ranges but as we do our workspace fills with the coming months deliveries. Squeals of joy from all the office peeps as we unpack them!

Impressions By Kaeli

We always love a good story behind a fabric range especially when the artist is so young and talented (she was only in high school when she designed this range!)

We discovered Kaeli Smiths work earlier this year and was blown away by her sincere passion for color in her artwork. Her multidimensional technique in her original works of art is reproduced in exquisite detail in her Giclee watercolor prints. Her paintings are

inspired by her love of colors and the Chesapeake Bay area.

Her debut fabric range titled "Impressions By Kaeli" has just landed in store.
