No Sew Pro: Tassel Tussle
I'm in the midst of planning three weddings for some dear friends (that's what your GBF is supposed to do, right?) and I keep coming across the most beautiful tassel garlands.
Confetti System make absolutely gorgeous paper garlands, but I got to thinking - surely we could make something similar with some favourite fabrics?
So, grab your rotary cutter, a cup of tea and some light and fabulous fabrics, and follow the link below...
Green Wedding Shoes' DIY Tassel Garland Instructions
We reccomend you swap the crepe paper for something light and beautiful like a cotton voile or even a quirky printed lawn. Try using a glittery fabric trim or organza to add a bit of sparkle!
These tassels are also fantastic for keyrings, bag accessories or to hang off doorknobs. We'd love to see what you create!
Enjoy the weekend!

Lucky Laminate
We're a messy bunch here in the buying office. Between Dad's weekly dim sim runs, Shoshana swatching everything in sight and Princess KimmyK littering the space with feather samples, it's tough to keep clean!
So when a fabric comes along that is not only beautiful to look at and work with, but wipes clean - who could resist?
Introducing new Punch Paisley Laminate Quilting Fabric!
These gorgeous designs are the same great quailty and weight cloth that you have come to expect from
Spotlight quilting fabrics, with the added bonus of a fine plastic film applied to one side. This is ideal for kids projects as it is wipe-clean and splash proof!
We made some nifty storage boxes out of ours, which everyone eyes off as they walk past my desk. I'm not sharing! And no Dad, you can't carry your dim sims in them.
This fabric is also suitable for tablecloths, art smocks, book covers and a myriad of other projects - have you used lamiated fabric before? Let us know what you made!
Punch Paisley Laminate, 112cm wide, 24.99m in 5 designs
In stores now - and for a limited time save $10/m! This offer vaild from Wednesday 21st March to Thursday 5th April.

On the Shelf
So I have these shelves at home that I bought from Bunnings, thinking all "industrial chic", but they ended up looking kinda...
Boring?
A visit to a friend's sewing room yesterday has me dreaming up an inspired solution: Fabric Covered Shelves!
As easy as a metre or two of fabric favourite and a bit of staple-gun action and voila! Instant transformation.
Here are a few blogs that beat me to it:
Now I'm pumped to get organised and cover EVERYTHING with fabric!
What crafty storage solutions have you come up with?

Furrr-eak
Despite another random Melbourne heat wave outside, I'm actually freezing here in the office. Which is probably just as well, because Shoshana inherited some beautiful furs on the weekend, so what better time to wear it?
At our conference last week excited team leaders met with our leading faux fur supplier and we were all so excited to get our hands on some wooly wonders! Now is the purr-fect time (see what I did there?) to get working on your winter wardrobe projects so why not start by getting furry?

Tommy Ton, photographer extraordinaire at Jak & Jil, has captured some fantastic fur moments from all over the world, including a few famous faces! Here are some of our favourite looks.
In the next few weeks we will be featuring some fun and easy fur projects to get you warm for winter. In the meantime, check out the full range in a Spotlight store near you!

Friday Stash Solvers
So we've been a little quiet here this week, mainly due to some very exciting things having torn us away from our desks. But in the midst of all the excitement, my sister called with a problem that I'm sure plagues all of you:
George or Brad?
I know not the answer.
But Sister Insider also asked me if I had any quick and quirky Stash Solvers up my sleeve to get her through the long weekend.
So here is three projects for the next three days (if you're not Victorian, and have to work on Monday, I suggest you start sewing now)!
Zippered iPhone Wallet from Things for Boys
I dropped my phone a couple of weeks ago and smashed the screen. But it would have been safe in this here little iPhone wallet!Instructions Here.
Crafty Cosies from comfortstitching
I'm a sucker for organisation! I often get totally frustrated if things aren't squared away nicely. But what better incentive to tidy up than these treats! Instructions Here.
Scrappy Leaves from A Cuppa and a Catch Up
These are absolutely gorgeous and with Autumn descending upon us, these are a great momento of the green summer foliage. Instructions Here
So get stitching! How are you spending your long (or not so long) weekend? Leave us a comment or let us know on Facebook.
